This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Have you ever had to sit somewhere that's dirty? Our present carpet is over 8 years old and has many stains. My students would love to have a clean place to sit everyday.
Our school is located in southern California.
Many of our students come from low income homes. They love to hear stories read to them even though they are in third grade. They are enjoying an art program that is new to the school. We are a Math, Science, and Technology Magnet. We attend Science lab weekly and Computer lab every other week.
My Project
Having a new carpet will improve the overall classroom environment. It is the first thing you see as you enter the classroom. We will be able to doing reading activities such reviewing spelling patterns, reading in small groups, and having classroom discussions in a circle on the carpet.
Our school and school district are unable to purchase much needed resources like furniture.
My students would love to have the opportunity to have a carpet that is in good condition. The classroom carpet is used as an instructional toll on a daily basis within our classroom.
