Help me give my students Chromebooks for access to the digital version of our classroom, for the remote learning we're doing now and for the hybrid online/in-person learning we will be doing in the future.

My Students
My students are 10th graders at a Philadelphia public school with a highly diverse population. One hundred percent qualify for the free lunch program. Many are first-generation Americans and many are immigrants.
Despite our school building's terrible conditions, toxic areas, and underfunded resources, the majority of these students have an unstoppable spirit.
They work hard in and out of class. They are always willing to stay late and participate in a variety of extra-curricular activities. Other students leave school to work part-time jobs or take care of family members. Our school community is busy in so many ways. My students even started a community garden last year! But we need your help to make our school day run smoothly.
My Project
In this new normal of remote learning, my students are staring at screens all day long. Many of them rely on the outdated technology provided to them from the school district. Some even use their phones to log into a class or write essays. For any student, this is a distraction and an obstacle to learning, especially for the many ESL students I teach who may be writing their first five-paragraph essays or struggle with technological literacy in a new language. These new laptops I am requesting would allow them to focus not on the latest technical difficultly but on learning as best as they can in these circumstances. The cart of 20 computers used to share between four classes have been dispersed for remote learning. Not only is that not enough for at-home use for each student, but now the classroom will not have computers when we return. I plan to use the computers donated now and in my classroom when we return to in-person learning.
By donating to our project, you will help to level the playing field for my students who often don't have the means to afford the updated technology that is now more essential to their education than ever.
I plan on designating this technology for in-class use upon our return to the classroom for a seamless transition. We will continue to use the new digital learning tools like Google Drive binders and Google Classroom so that students learning is not interrupted. Outdated or a complete lack of technology creates a multitude of unnecessary obstacles for my students. Please help us to turn our virtual learning into a success story when we return to the classroom.
