My Project

Each quarter, my students are required to read a choice novel. The classroom novels that are a chosen part of our curriculum have value, but I have found that getting kids to love reading really comes from helping them find a choice novel to read that they enjoy.

I pride myself in having a diverse classroom library, and work hard to help students make a connection with a book in a genre or subject they will enjoy.

Each Tuesday, I do book talks to celebrate books in our classroom library that I think students might enjoy or appreciate. Students create book trailers to share books they have enjoyed, and throughout the year, we build a culture of reading and talking about good books.

It is extremely important to me to help inspire students to read, and would greatly appreciate the donation of new books to add to our classroom library.

Ms. Parrack will only receive her materials if this project is fully funded by August 10.
