My Students

I work at an alternative high school where many students feel very indifferent about school. School is something they are not excited about, and they often have trouble fitting in and feeling comfortable in large school. Alternative education provides students with a smaller learning environment where they feel comfortable and have a personal connection with their teachers.

My students are special because they have gone from hating school to loving it.

My art classroom provides students with a creative outlet to express their inner emotions. My ceramics class is the biggest art class at school, and it is seen by all as a therapeutic, relaxing, and creative class.

My Project

The ceramics program at our high school is in desperate need of new glazes! A lot of glazes that are being used in class are old and outdated and are being thrown away because they are no longer usable. I would like to obtain new glazes so students can be proud of their finished products and have more professional looking pieces. I would like for my students to immerse themselves in technology as well. I use technology in my classroom, but I am very limited in terms of projecting materials. With an Apple TV, I will be able to project images, videos, and project examples with ease.
