My Students
I teach Reading and Social Studies to 42 wonderful third graders on the southeast side of San Antonio, Texas. My students are very driven, hard-working, and lovable. They get so excited about their learning and it is such a pleasure to teach them.
My goal for my students is for them to develop a genuine love and excitement for learning.
I love to watch that love and excitement grow more and more each day we are together in the classroom.
My Project
In class, literacy centers are my students' time to practice skills we've learned in class, either with others or independently. My students love center time! They work diligently and purposefully during center time to complete their center activities and show their learning.
The addition of comprehension based center activities will help reinforce and refine the skills needed to tackle the STAAR test!
For my project, I selected non-fiction and fiction comprehension question cards my students can use with books of their choice in order to help reinforce key standards based comprehension skills. I also selected comprehension cards that come with a pen that will give my students immediate feedback about the correct answer to the questions they're answering. The immediate feedback will be beneficial to my students during center time, as I am not available for feedback because I am working with small groups. I included game based vocabulary cards to boost my students' vocabulary skills in a fun and engaging way.
