When I first settled into my classroom, I bought a small carpet for the library. I couldn’t believe how much the students use it and see it as a favorable place to do work. Students who work there feel more comfortable and at ease, more likely to work harder.
Both my regular class and reading groups use this area.
On a day to day basis that is about 40 students. I am requesting for 2 smaller carpets to replace our current carpet. This will expand the area and allow for more students to work there at a time. Students read, do independent/group work, and computer time all in this area.
I would love to be able to upgrade our library
for my students so that more of them can enjoy our library corner as a work area!
