New Calm, Wellness Room

Help me give my students a calm space to go to relax and help them manage their anxiety or take a break due to stress at school.

My Project

Since the pandemic, many students are returning to school with high levels of stress and anxiety, which leads to an increase in absences and checking out of school. These materials, including a beanbag sofa, lamps, rug, and various sensory items, will be used to create a wellness center.

Creating a wellness center at the school will provide students with a safe, calm space where they will be able to take a break and learn new coping strategies to help them return to the classroom ready to learn.

Some of these coping strategies will include deep breathing, relaxation techniques, distress tolerance skills, and sensory outlets.
