Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are in a one-way dual language program which consists of 50% English instruction and 50% Spanish instruction. We are a Title I school with 73.3% poverty. My students are working hard to be college and career ready using inquiry-based reading strategies, writing argumentative essays, analyzing poetry, learning American history and hands-on science. We love to learn math in Spanish and work together at a pace that meets our educational needs.
We are hoping to move from remote learning (at home) to hybrid learning back at school by December if possible.
I am looking for exciting and engaging new books that will expand my library and make my students love reading!
My Project
My students haven't been in our classroom yet, but we are ready to come back to hybrid learning as soon as it is safe! In order to get our reading brains going, we need new titles, new subject matter, and books that are about current issues that matter!
My students' range for reading is huge and many are looking for that book that hooks them into being lifelong readers.
The books on this list have many amazing topics, stories we admire and can learn from. These books will be well loved!
