My Project
I teach English Language Arts in a Title One school in urban Kansas City, Missouri. The skills we develop are all aimed at honing student literacy. Students need fun and engaging text to practice with outside of school.
This goal of this project is to curate a diverse collection of engaging graphic novels, Manga, and comic books for students to check out and take home.
This will allow students to cultivate habits of reading for fun on their own time. Reading for pleasure is a positive avenue to improve literacy.
With brand new text from this project, we can keep the classroom library stocked full of interesting titles for students. These books will capture the imaginations of young readers and encourage their development. If scholars can find value in literature as a hobby, they will find more success academically and become lifelong learners.
