Your generosity will allow my middle school art students to explore clay in meaningful, hands-on ways that encourage creativity, problem-solving, and self-expression. When the materials arrived, the excitement in the classroom was immediate. Many of my students have never worked with clay tools before, and they are eager to begin creating. Their faces lit up as we opened the box with the pottery wheel. Then came the questions... What is it? What can we do with it? When can we use it? They explored the potter's wheel and imagined what they could make.\r\n\r\nWe are currently planning to create just get their hands in clay, but nothing can be really kept yet because we are working to get a kiln. This has become a wonderful learning opportunity in itself, as students are discovering the full process behind ceramic art and understanding what it takes to bring an idea from wet clay to a finished piece. Although we face challenges, we are not giving up. I am actively searching for grants, fundraising opportunities, and community partnerships that will help us secure access to a kiln in the future. The enthusiasm these materials have sparked has shown just how much interest and potential there is for ceramics in our school. \r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, students are developing new artistic skills, exploring creative problem-solving, and experiencing the joy of working with clay for the first time. We are incredibly grateful for the foundation you have helped us build, and we are hopeful that this is just the beginning of a growing ceramics program that will inspire students for years to come. Students have been reading quite a bit this year. Thus far, 14 sign-out sheets have been completed, with 15 spots available on each. This means that 210 books have been read from our classroom library. Many students were eager to read the books we received from the most recent Donors' Choose project. The availability of high-quality and highly engaging reading material really makes a difference. Students are much more likely to read when materials are provided that spark their interest. This would not be possible without your support.
