This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 20 children are resilient and dedicated students from the neighborhood of East Boston. Many of my students speak English as their second language and are dedicated to getting the best education they can, to increase their opportunities for success through vigorous reading, writing, math, science and social studies instruction.

In our classroom we are focused on a Growth Mindset that teaches us that we are capable of doing anything we want to do as long as we believe in the power of yet!

If we make a mistake we always tell ourselves, we can't do it.... yet, and strive to set goals to achieve at the highest level.

My Project

Our classroom library is in need of some new titles! As my students gain more independence in reading my need for fun and engaging texts is high!

Fun and engaging texts can foster a life long love for reading!

By bringing Mo Willems and updated animal texts I can continue to push my first graders to read more and more and continue to grow their reading ability.

After making so much progress this fall, many students making gains of 3 or more levels, my students have earned a fresh set of fun and exciting texts to carry us into the second half of the year!
