This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My kindergarten students come from a tight-knit, low-income community in the city of Chicago. They are excited to be starting a new year and to make incredible progress this year.
Each of my students is uniquely talented, counting on school to provide a place to let those talents shine.
Kindergarten establishes a strong foundation for students in school, both academically and socially. This group is focused on building a supportive classroom community and working together to help one another succeed.
My Project
My new kindergarten students need books to encourage and inspire them to begin developing great reading habits! These A, B, and C level books will establish the foundation of our classroom library, helping students to becoming familiar with books and build confidence in their reading abilities.
These books will help kindergarten students learn to love literature as they practice reading independently!
Our current library has very few books for readers who are just starting out, so these beginner level texts are crucial materials for establishing my students as life-long readers. Every student will have a chance to explore these books in the classroom library and read them on a daily basis. I can't wait to see them discover these stories and read them again and again!
