I currently teach in a close-knit, rural community. My students are a wonderful group of children with incredible enthusiasm. They are expressive, full of ideas, and love sharing their thoughts with one another.
As readers, we thrive when presented with high-interest, engaging texts that are accessible for us.
Each student has different abilities and needs, so having a wide variety of quality texts from which to choose helps us deepen our learning and practice skills that are just right for us.
My Project
Adding new titles to our classroom library will increase engagement and give our students a chance to read independently at their "just-right" reading level. I have included book sets with a wide variety of titles and reading levels so that all of my students can access the text that is perfect for them.
Just like athletes becoming stronger with continued practice, children become better readers when they have the tools needed to practice.
By choosing these highly-engaging texts, I can provide my students with books that will keep their attention, help them feel successful, and teach them! We will use these books during independent reading time.
