New Books for a Crazy Year
Help me give my students new and exciting books and graphic novels. Also, help me replenish my art supplies with markers, colored pencils, and crayons.
My Students
What do you remember about your time in junior high? Was it good? Or was it bad? My hope is that when students leave my classroom at the end of the year, they remember their time with me as something positive. I hope they leave with a joy for reading.
My students are eager and love books!
I teach English and Special Education at a large public school. My students are smart, kind, and eager to learn. They come from diverse backgrounds in a mostly middle-class area. They are amazing kids and I am lucky to call them mine!
My Project
This year has been a tough one due to COVID! Help me bring a little bit more cheer to my students by helping us get some much needed books and art supplies such as crayons, markers and colored pencils for my classroom.
I am asking for new and exciting books and graphic novels to add to my classroom library, and crayons, markers, and colored pencils to help replenish my meager supplies, and several fidget toys.
I feel like since COVID began, students have done less reading with remote learning. You can help by filling up my classroom library with books. With new classroom books, I am hoping to re-ignite my students' love for learning. Whether students love a series of books, or graphic novels-there will be something for everyone. Students would also have the chance to read new books that they might not otherwise have access to.
I also want to replenish my art supplies that over the last few years have become very sad, such as crayons, colored pencils, and markers. With COVID, I feel like my students struggled to do the more creative types of assignments. Now, since we are back in the classroom, I want those art materials to be available for students to be able to use and express their learning in unique ways.
I would also like to have a few more fidget toys for students to use during class time. There are times when students just need something to fidget with while they complete work. I have seen the impact that fidget toys have had on my students' focus and attention.
