My Students

My students attend a public elementary school in Illinois where 100% of our students come from low income households. All my students are excited about learning, from the moment they walk in the door, until the moment they put their homework in their backpack in the afternoon. We take advantage of many different learning styles throughout the day to keep all students engaged.

Our students have been recently affected by budget cuts that have been district wide.

My Project

This year I am moving to a different school within the same neighborhood and the same district. In addition to the usual supplies like pencils, glue sticks, erasers, printer ink and crayons, I am also in need of some items for my changing classroom environment.

Since I am switching from 3rd to 2nd grade, a classroom rug is going to be an important place for group discussions and our morning routine.

In addition, this classroom has round group tables instead of traditional desks. The chair pockets will help students to organize their supplies and books.

I am lucky enough to have a classroom set of chromebooks, however, our school does not have a budget for computer programs. I have been using IXL at my previous school and the students love using it for basic review on skills and to explore new skills they will be required to learn throughout the year.
