This is my first year teaching IT fundamentals, networking and Microsoft help desk professional beginners in a rural, poverty stricken Appalachian mountain community. The students in my classes are precious souls that constantly ask to be challenged in an area of study that has never been tangible to their lives simply because the community has a limited comprehension of computer literacy.
I listed a few projects of our coding fundamentals class below, please enjoy them!!!
Thanks for the support!!!!!
I teach using Khanacademy.org, code.org and several other resources that require individual listening environments for each student. ( the reasoning for headphones)
I would like to teach the beginnings of robotics and how the electrical system, programming and movements are created to provide future jobs.
My students are poor and most will never have the opportunity to purchase learning tools that could lead to future jobs in the community. We have several boat manufacturers but most jobs in our area are not technical driven careers. I am trying to change the culture and perspective of how technology could be great for the community and future.
