Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school serves students in grades K-8 and we focus on a "no excuses" attitude, individual academic success, and have a great group of teachers to guide our amazing students. As a result, we are one of the model schools in our district for how much growth our students have each year. We help our students to find a path that will get them through high school successfully and on to some extended education.

Our classroom environment is packed full with two grade levels working together to grow. With my split this year I've had to compile two different meeting areas within the same space. I want to both spaces to feel welcoming.
My Project
I recently rearranged my classroom to accommodate teaching two grade levels this year. There are opportunities where both grade levels are involved in their own group discussions with me or the student teacher/instructional aide/volunteer.
I have two meeting places but one is lacking in a welcoming vibe.
Prior to this year, I've only needed one place to meet but this year two would be ideal. We are a cohesive classroom but there are times where each grade level needs to be focused on their standards and goals.
I also let my students move around the classroom when they are reading so the area rug and bean bags will provide more options of places to read.
