Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come to Resource Room ready to learn every day. Their enthusiasm for learning creates a learning environment that is positive and encouraging when the work is challenging. I work with a mixture of students from Kindergarten through the fifth grade. The majority of my students have a Specific Learning Disability while some have additional disabilities.
In our room, we focus on building skills and filling in the gaps so that they can make progress in their abilities with the hopes that someday they will reach grade level and graduate from Special Education.
My Project
The Guided Level Reading books will help my lowest readers have access to a wider selection of books. Paired with the 100 Word Lists they will increase their sight word knowledge and increase their reading fluency.
The math items that I have requested will help my students who struggle in their general education classes to achieve success.
This will help them strengthen their existing abilities and achieve new skills. I will use the materials to complement the direct instruction they receive.
All of the materials I have selected will be used to help students achieve their academic goals as outlined in their Individualized Education Program.
