When you walk into our classroom you will be greeted by sixteen energetic students eager to learn. Our school is located in a trauma sensitive, rural community. We are a co-taught classroom where the students are lucky enough to have two teachers, one regular education teacher and one special education teacher.
Our classroom is made up of a variety of learners with different needs.
With the extra hands of another teacher in the classroom we are able to help reach more students academically and provide more detailed instruction.
My Project
It is important to build a classroom family and create a warm, safe learning environment for all students. Incorporating conscious discipline into the classroom will create a secure and comfortable learning environment for all students. Since my school is a trauma sensitive school, my students are dealing with a lot of emotions which are hard for them to process and hinder their learning. Conscious discipline will help students process their emotions and create a safe and positive learning experience for all.
When students feel comfortable and connected to other classmate, they are more engaged, motivated, and confident which has a positive impact on students learning.
Conscious discipline provides students with a sense of community within the classroom and makes them accountable for their actions and learning. Conscious discipline creates a classroom family by providing tools to self regulate emotion and learning. The conscious discipline and growth mindset resources will provide my students with the resources to build positive relationships and optimize their learning. My students would benefit tremendously from resources provided by conscious discipline which will help them outside of the classroom for years to come.
