In our school, students have diverse needs and situations. We are an early school and this is a major factor in late arrivals. A lot of our parents work at night and have a difficult time getting students to school on time and most without breakfast. Our student ambassadors help these students and their parents by taking around a breakfast cart each morning.
In order for them to continue to help students that are missing breakfast, they need to replenish the cart.
By offering students a quick breakfast snack upon arrival, the ambassadors are initiating a community service plan that will help to eliminate hunger in our school community. This will help keep students focused on learning instead of feeling hungry. This will also help the parents in the community knowing that their child is not going without food. For this project, they are requesting juice boxes, cereal bars and cups, pop tarts, and veggie straws for a quick and easy snack to last until lunch.
