Help me give my students 6 LEGO BricQ Motion Prime Sets to expand our STEAM-focused, hands-on LEGO Education experience through building, writing, and expressing what we read.
Actress, Kate Winslet, uttered the words, "I'll never let go, Jack" to Leonardo DiCaprio in the movie, "Titanic." While some movie fans may recall this film, LEGO Education has become a core part of two 8th grade English classrooms at our school. This option has touched the learning life of more than 250 students, since the program started in December 2019, and it has expanded again. In January 2022, our LEGO Education program increased from 4 to 8 classes. Our LEGO Education ELA course includes: two inclusion, four G/T Advanced, and two grade level classes.
We have created literacy labs using LEGO BricQ Motion Prime kits with four different units, and we're requesting for 12 kits, a class set, for our second ELA LEGO Education classroom.
Our team is requesting a total of 12 kits to support our growing program. We are presented with the challenge of currently using 13 kits for 8 classes. While we also use LEGO bricks, plates, and mini-figures; our program has grown to include the LEGO BricQ Motion Prime kits. This program started with 50 students in the first year, 40 in the second, and then 200 in the third year after COVID-19 restrictions lifted. Twelve kits will support our second ELA classroom and inclusion teacher and students. When our students complete LEGO Education literacy labs, they engage in learning vocabulary, grammar, reading comprehension, building, and writing. Our second English teacher stresses that the program "helps with problem-solving, STEAM and interdisciplinary tie-ins, and concrete and abstract thinking, student engagement, and motivation." Please help our students never "LE-GO" of learning with LEGO Education.
