This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach P.E. to elementary students in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. More than 80% of our school's students qualify for free lunch at our Title I school. Our economically disadvantaged students do not all have the same opportunity as other children.
Badminton nets will be used in a variety of PE games such as balloon volleyball and the fast action Nitro Ball.
Physical Education has the superpower of introducing our school's students to a variety of fun physical activities. Badminton nets are a perfect example of an entertaining physical activity that easily engages students. Imagine if volleyball, tennis, and 4-square all got together and created a game. If they did, it would be called Nitro Ball. In this fast-paced game, students hit a volleyball back and forth across a low-set net until one student is out. They go to the back of the line and the first person in line takes their place. My older students will love it. My younger grades will bat a balloon back and forth across the net. So much fun and students are happily physically active for the entire P.E. class.
