Help me give my students an experience of a lifetime - reading in the dark! We will be learning to read scientifically using neon markers and blacklights!
Describing my students isn't an easy task. Many would say that they are inspirational, creative and hard-working. They are all unique, unique in their interests, their learning, their abilities and so much more. What they all have in common is their desire to learn each day despite difficulties that they encounter.
Our classroom is amazing because we understand that everyone learns at their own pace, and needs a variety of resources to meet their unique needs.
As the teacher, I pride myself on making sure my students are always engaged, motivated and inspired to create their own learning.
My Project
In today's classroom engagement is key - and this project is sure to just that! We will be looking at scientific texts and making annotations using neon markers/highlighters and black lights! Reading this way will be super engaging for students, and will allow them to learn in a different modality.
We will be using a new reading strategy this year inspired by the "Neon Read-on!" When our students are reading, they will be using a specific reading strategy which is color-coded for important information.
We will use these when reading in science and social studies to increase our excitement and retention!
