Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
For the past couple of years, my school has hosted an annual literacy night where we invite the community and provide free books for families to take home. However, finding books that interest our students can be a struggle.
This year, again, my goal is to put a book in the hands of each of my 180 students for Love of Reading Week.
For many of my students, these will be the first books they've ever owned, and I hope that with this book, they will be inspired to read more and more books and have a lifelong love of reading.
With this project, each student will receive a book to take home from our Love of Reading, Literacy event. The books will be culturally responsive, written by BIPOC authors, and about BIPOC experiences. I'm hoping that with these books, students will see themselves, and it may inspire them to read more.
Our mission is to make reading accessible to youth in our community. With your support, we can make it happen!
