My fifth-grade students are amazing. My students come to school every day ready to learn and willing to work hard. My class is made up of many different needs, including students with special needs, limited language acquisition, and high achieving needs. My students work hard every day to succeed. We use many different strategies to achieve success and many of these strategies are thanks to DonorsChoose. We have received furniture, chapter books, and technology from amazing donors.

My Project
Every class I've read Holes with has loved it! Holes is a great use of core literature. Instead of reading our boring language arts text, I teach the common core language arts standards through chapter books. Holes is by far a favorite. I am going to have a bigger class of students this year.
We need new copies of Holes to replace ruined ones, and to ensure every student has their own copy.
We will read the text, annotate it, and learn the standards through it. These standards include compare and contrast, main idea, theme, and inferencing.
We also need some organizational tools, such as a wall file organizer. Keeping this file organizer next to the classroom door makes finding missing work or extra copies really easy.
