My Project

TMS's student population is very diverse with more Native students. Our School is a 6-8 grade school and current enrollment is 660 students.

The school band program is thriving with 97 students in four classes and our projected enrollment for next year is 140.

We are in need of new instruments across the entire school. Most of our students use school owned instruments and only a few of these instruments are new and purchased in the past 10 years. Which means we are short 43 instruments for this next school year. We will be offering a rental program for students also hoping that we will only need 25 more instruments.

Our district has not purchased our school new tubas, baritone/euphoniums, bari saxes, bass Clarinet since the 1990’s. And they are working pretty good for us. Which shows how much our students take care of their equipment. We currently don’t have a bassoon and have been using a local school's bassoon. Our oboe was donated by a local oboe player. I have to tell students that we don’t have another oboe for them.

My goal as director is to make sure my students have the equipment they need. It would be nice to have more support from the district but their priority is high school first.

Our baritones literally fell apart in students' hands this year and we currently are borrowing from other schools.

Projection for my program is to have 180 students enrolled at TMS.
