This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are the reason for me to wake up every morning. They are sweet, bright, enthusiastic, creative, and at the same time, challenging. Each of them come to school with one goal, to learn.
More than 80% of my students are qualified for free or reduced-price lunch.
75% of them are identified as African-American, 25% are identified as Hispanic. Most of them have a single parent who has more than one job. Our classroom is an ICT classroom and almost 1/3 of our students have an IEP. We are doing the best we can with the abilities and resources we have, but you can be our extra support!
My Project
We started reading our 8th novel of this year today. Our copies were published in 2000, 18 years ago. Most of them are torn apart and aren't in good shape, similar to most of the books in our class.
I would like to request more books for our small library and our curious minds.
One of the most requested books from my students is The Lightning Thief series. We read The Lightning Thief during our novel period and we are craving for more! Unfortunately, most of us can not afford the books.
The donations to this project will help to improve my students' love of learning and the ability to read independently. I hope that you can support us and help our library (and our minds) grow!
