Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students have to face lots of challenges in society because of their economical situations at home. But even with all of those difficulties , they are inspired to excel in life.
They want to compete with the rest of the world.
They want to prove that they can do what everybody else can do. I want to help them to fulfill their dreams. I firmly believe that everybody should have equal opportunity at school regardless of their economical situation at home.
My Project
Working in a low socioeconomic school is full of challenges. You not only struggle to keep your students focused( because they have big problems to tackle at home than in my science classroom), but also feel helpless because of the limited resources that you have available.
Every student deserve to have access to basic lab equipment regardless of their zip code.
Unfortunately, it is not true for my students. In my chemistry classroom, I don't have gas or functional fume hood. Even worse than that, I don't have enough beakers or test tubes. I have to use plastic cups and ziploc bags to substitute them. This definitely hurt my student's self-esteem. They feel less motivated and discouraged . Our school budget is so limited that it gets mostly spent on consumable that I have to buy every year to replenish the labs that I do. So, I definitely need your help to provide me this material that will serve lots of students for several years. Please help me to help my students to experience some real science. I assure you , every penny of your donation is going to be worth spent.
