We are a large public urban high school grades 9-12 with about 1500 kids.
The student body is awesomely diverse as Brashear High School serves as the ESL center for Pittsburgh Public Schools. My classroom is an inclusion classroom which has a variety of learners including ESL, autistic support, students with learning disabilities, and special education needs- all in one room. I've found their uniqueness makes my art class even more amazing because of the myriad of backgrounds, needs, and experiences which they pull their inspiration to make art!
My Project
I have a large class.
We currently have very quiet and cheap computer speakers that make it hard to hear most videos.
We use a lot of clips to keep the kids engaged and there are so many amazing pieces of media that are a great addition to lessons. They help the kids understand or see concepts they were previously struggling with. Without quality speakers, we are missing out on an excellent resource. The speakers will allow for all my students to hear information and instructions with ease!
We are also seeking ink for our classroom. We would use this to expand upon artist exploration with photo transfer films which need to be printed on the inkjet printer.
Each students' individual needs is vital to giving them a fair chance at the best education.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
