Necessary Classroom Supplies for Middle Schoolers (and Their Teacher)!

My Project
When I began teaching three years ago, I noticed significant changes in the student population compared to my own middle and high school experience. Due to the rise of screen time, lost time during the Covid-19 pandemic, and a variety of other socioeconomic factors in the state and country, students are encountering new and/or emphasized challenges in school. Many students now struggle with reading physical texts, staying motivated, staying calm and optimistic, and maintaining focus in class. At the same time, I’ve seen how a cluttered, disorganized classroom environment can affect students’ ability to access necessary supplies and stay engaged with their learning.
The supplies I am requesting will help create a more organized and efficient classroom, making learning more accessible and enjoyable for my students.
To support in-class novel reading, I’ve included a variety of reading trackers, including fun “witch fingers” for spooky season, to make the experience engaging and interactive. To encourage positive behavior such as determination, collaboration, and staying on task, I’ve requested tickets for a classroom rewards system, with prizes like miniature dinosaurs, stickers, and more.
I’m also requesting a set of pencil boxes filled with essential supplies—pencils, pens, sharpeners, highlighters, scissors, and more—so students can spend less time searching for materials and more time learning and collaborating with their desk partners. Additionally, I’ve included organizational tools for my teacher desk and classroom shelves, which will help me access resources more quickly, stay on top of plans, and dedicate more time to supporting my students.
