My Students
I'm apart of a team of ENL teachers in a Title I school that services students from grades K - 8. All of my students are English Language Learners and a portion of them have special needs.
My students are a unique bunch of excited and motivated learners, all eager to learn English and develop foundational skills both remotely and in the school building.
They come from various cultural backgrounds and have a variety of home languages and academic needs and abilities. They love using technology and collaborating in small groups. My students are eager to explore topics while learning new vocabulary and information. I strive to create fun and engaging learning opportunities to support all of my students and Nearpod will be an amazing resource to aide in this effort. It will increase student engagement and understanding while allowing them to use technology and work at their own pace. They will also still be able to collaborate, digitally. It provides instructional games and videos to engage our inquisitive English Language Learners.
My Project
We will be servicing students that are on sight, blended, and fully remote. We need a strong sense of community with parents and staff. This year will be unique and different for students, teachers, and parents alike. Nearpod lessons are engaging, interactive, and differentiated which will make it easier to plan lessons and activities for our community of learners.
With ESL students, we mainly focus on learning and pronouncing new words and Nearpod will provide vocabulary activities and strategies to strengthen our students’ English.
It provides direct instruction, fill-in-the-blank, and drawing activities to allow students different modalities to express their understanding.
The students will be supported and engaged while having fun and developing a deeper understanding of the English language. We are excited to implement this platform and give our students access to these engaging and interacting lessons they can complete in class and at their own pace from home.
