My Project
Our school is in the beautiful foothills of the Smoky Mountains, and our school is a true community school. Our community is small, but they love our school and work hard to support it. However, with the current economic situation, our school has had a dramatic increase in students coming from high poverty situations.
Our school's community is very supportive of our school, but we are lacking in some of the fundamental educational tools to teach our students such as manipulative materials, STEM technology, updated books, and other educational resources.
In my library and STEM classroom, I strive daily to give my students a wide range of materials and opportunities to experience new ways of reading. With these books, I will help my students learn to read and help begin a magical adventure of books. I am striving daily to make a difference in the lives of my students.
This project is for the purchase of books for our school library. These books have been chosen as high-interest, appropriate books for kindergarten through fifth grade students. My students are obsessed with books filled with facts. This project gives us several new books to cultivate this love. Providing my students with books that they will find interesting is essential in getting our students to learn that reading is a magical adventure. Thank you for helping my students learn to navigate through nonfiction!
