I currently have 17 students in my public preschool classroom. We are in a high poverty district where many of our families take advantage of a "backpack buddy" program to send food home on the weekends and during breaks.
My students are eager to learn and love opportunities to engage in hands-on, project based learning.
Being able to provide students with extra resources to help educate and engage them would be wonderful. My students and I would appreciate any donations!
My Project
In our classroom, we strive to build positive social relationships and meet children's sensory needs. Relationship building is the key to academic and life success. A child's social-emotional development motivates them to learn critical skills such as the ability to communicate, connect with others, resolve conflict, self-regulate, display kindness and empathy and cope with challenges.
Materials like books, feelings and emotions dolls, tactile pillows, and liquid floor tiles would allow my students to learn about and manage their emotional needs.
Materials like these allow students to explore independently when they need a break from adults and peers, but also lend themselves well for working with small groups of children to regulate their feelings and learn to build healthy, positive relationships.
