My Students

As a STEAM teacher and librarian, I have the privilege of working with 320 Pre-Kindergarten through fifth-grade students in our library and in individual classrooms. The integration of STEAM learning experiences has been nothing short of magical, helping my diverse students find confidence, passion, empowerment, success, and creative ways to express their learning. Many of my students will be the first in their families to attend and graduate college. Helping spark an interest in STEAM for my youngest learners can ignite a passion and change the trajectory for their futures. When you support my classroom, you become a part of their stories and successes.

Providing my students with authentic STEAM learning experiences will give them opportunities to develop 21st-century skills, establish a growth mindset, and empower them to overcome any obstacles standing in their way and accomplish their goals and dreams.

My students are energetic, eager to learn, and excited to be in school. They love hands-on learning opportunities and having a voice and choice in their learning as they become empowered learners. I know they will deeply appreciate your generosity and support of their classroom.

My Project

My project will provide students with a variety of nature themed STEAM challenges that relate to literacy instruction. For our Storytime STEAM challenges, students will first listen to a nature read aloud. Then they will complete a STEM challenge that relates to the read aloud. It is so important that I provide students with STEAM challenges in which they are socially-distanced and limit shared materials. These books will provide inspiration for these meaningful new safe and socially-distanced challenges.

The picture books generously donated through this project will engage and inspire students to complete their STEAM challenges as they remain safe.

These literacy-based challenges give students meaningful purpose to their STEAM activities. It is also my hope to incorporate these books into a variety of outdoor and gardening activities that will inspire students to keep learning at home and outside throughout the spring and summer. Thank you for supporting my students and providing them with new experiences while staying safe.
