This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students were in the middle of their first year of school when this pandemic turned their world upside down. Pre-K was their chance to build a foundation for learning, however, rather abruptly, they had to change to a new platform of learning. I have happy learners that are eager, enthusiastic and love learning. We are a title one school. Often times our students face many challenges that they do not understand. .
My students can no longer play in parks visit museums, go to the library or visit the zoo.
COVID 19 has kept them inside! Young children have been greatly impacted by this pandemic. It is difficult for them to develop an understanding of nature without hands on and real life experiences. Each child in my classroom enjoys exploring and approaches learning with pride and joy. My students have been true champions throughout this difficult time . They are phenomenal.
My Project
The COVID 19 pandemic has caused children to be unable explore and enjoy nature. I would like to bring nature to them remotely. Using flannel board stories, games and models of things in nature will help me to provide students with real life experiences. These materials will help create imagination, curiosity and scientific inquiry. My students will begin to understand nature and the environment. They will make predictions, compare, observe, sequence and collect data with fun, engagement and rigor. The impact on learning is great and the possibilities are limitless!
