My students need branch blocks, a variety of local birds, a natural sounds musical kit, and books to engage and learn about the animals in their local environments.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students range from a variety of needs, from communication to sensory. We are a Title I school attempting to support the whole child in academics, social, and physical areas. We strive to give our students exposure to community jobs, roles, and real-life experiences. Our school community strives to meet all learners through a variety of engaging experiences and through hands-on learning.
My students deserve access to materials that assist them in practicing skills and allows them to engage in developmentally appropriate ways in the classroom as well as the community.
My Project
Having access to materials that allow my students to engage with their natural environment within the classroom setting will help develop compassion towards the animals and give my students experiences in how to care for animals, take care of their environment to be mindful of the living creatures that share the outdoor space.
Engaging with physical materials will teach animal compassion and habits within the classroom environment to help my students generalize how to interact and take care of living creatures in the world.
My students will be able to study local birds, their sounds, how to identify creatures as well as can create habitats with the branch blocks and a variety of other materials.
