My Project
This equipment will help jumpstart our school's first student-led podcast network. This podcast initiative would provide a creative outlet for students to explore various topics, develop communication skills, and engage with their peers and the broader community. The platform would offer opportunities for students to experiment and learn audio and video recording techniques, copyrighting, marketing, and other relevant skills crucial in today's digital landscape. The first program to launch will be the "Native Sons" podcast (Spring 2025), featuring students from the Native Sons book club with Keith LaMar. Students will engage in in-depth discussions with Mr. LaMar from Ohio's death row.
This podcast would not only provide a platform to showcase the insightful conversations held within the book club, which few get to experience but also serve as a vehicle to amplify Keith's voice and advocate for his freedom, something that my students have become deeply committed to.
The creation of a dedicated podcast recording studio, made possible through Donors Choose, will provide a sustainable resource for years to come, empowering students to become storytellers, advocates, and change-makers, while also strengthening connections within our school and beyond.
