My Project
This project will benefit Native American students in Our District. Our Indigenous students represent many different tribes from a wide geographic area. Even though Salt Lake District is a large urban district, Native American students represent only about 1% of our population. This small population is spread over dozens of schools.
Our goal is to create spaces at school where Native American families feel comfortable and valued.
Our Native American families love to get together at potlucks and enjoy each others' company. At these monthly meetings, our students connect around crafts, games, and storytelling. In these crafts, students learn more about themselves. These hair feather, choker, medicine wheel, and tobacco bag kits will provide activities to carry us through until the end of this school year.
