Native American Students Need New Books to Read

My students need 30 books to read and these books will expand their imaginations and take them to places they can only go in their minds.

FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Carlson's classroom raised $281

This project is fully funded

My Students

Do you remember when you were first introduced to science? If it was done correctly, you've loved science ever since. Many of these books I've chosen will introduce my students to science at their level and provide them with experiments and activities they can do on their own.

My students live on a high poverty Indian reservation.

Unemployment is three times the state average and many of my students live in non-traditional households. New books and the latest reading material is unavailable to them because the school library most often doesn't have the books and their guardians cannot afford to purchase books. They desperately want to read and learn and explore other places (if only in their imagination), but only through your generous donations are these goals a possibility.

My Project

The books I've chosen are many of the current bestselling children's books. I've also chosen many science books. My students don't have access to current bestsellers. The school library doesn't have these books and the nearest library is nearly 20 miles away. Science is a great love of my students and science books are greatly cherished. These books will help my students stretch their imagination and at the same time learn about science and nature.

Without your help my students may never have access to the books I'm requesting.

Think about how reading and science have improved you life. If you have a love of reading please help me instill in my students that same love. A gift of reading is one of the greatest gifts that you could possibly give. Please make these books accessible to my students.
