My Project

In this unit students will complete a mini research project and present a slideshow to the class, learn about Native American's contributions to medicine, food, language, animals, music and so much more. Students will also learn about the regalia and customs of Native American powwows.

We will be using the novel Apple in the Middle to explore the Native American culture while increasing our reading skills.

Our special education students are learning critical reading skills like how to decode unfamiliar words, the meaning of common prefixes and suffixes, how to increase their comprehension, and vocabulary skills. Apple in the Middle will be the mentor text as we learn about Native American culture and increase reading skills.
