Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Global warming? Diminishing energy sources? Overpopulation? Our children will encounter a number of problems we just starting to consider. Therefore we have to develop their awareness, thinking skills, and creativity. A class a subscription to National Geographic Explorer will be a great start.

About 75% of our students are African American alongside with Latin and Asian children.

In this wonderful diversity of cultures, I teach second grade to twenty-four kids. As a Social Justice and Language Arts Magnet, my public school stresses the importance of peaceful activism and problem-solving. However, we struggle to offer the best to our kids who come from economically disadvantaged families.

My Project

Receiving National Geographic Explorer/Pathfinder Edition will accomplish two goals. This will support non-fiction reading while addressing social justice. We'll use the magazine during language arts time to define main ideas and to learn how to take notes. Reading about current issues will also help students become familiar with some the problems that await them. The class will be able to collect information and start thinking about solutions. And is it necessary to say that all kids are attracted by the splendid photography that naturally incite them to read the articles?

This subscription will help students' education as well as their motivation to learn.
