Help me give my students the high quality teaching they deserve. Studies have found that the positive impact of having a Board-certified teacher is even greater for minority and low-income students.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As an Intervention teacher I teach students in grades K-5th grade. The majority of my students are low-income and live in the congested inner- city in Wilmington, Ca. Wilmington is a port town with hard working families working multiple jobs. My students struggle with reading and many of them do not have access to reading materials at home especially during online learning.
With engaging reading materials, I hope to increase their love of reading.
Learning to read is exciting, challenging, and sometimes difficult for young students. The literacy skills developed early in a child’s education are essential for future success. It is important that teachers find ways to motivate children to live, love and learn through reading since it is an essential part of life.
My Project
Teachers who have gone through the Board certification process say that it is the most valuable and transformative professional development they have ever received. This opportunity will allow me to connect professional learning with classroom practice and bring to life a my experience, by helping me reflect on individual student learning needs. My students will learn more. A decade of research shows that students of Board-certified teachers learn more than their peers without Board-certified teachers. Studies have also found that the positive impact of having a Board-certified teacher is even greater for minority and low-income students. Becoming Board Certified will allow me to hone my practice, showcase my talent in the classroom and demonstrate my dedication to my students and my profession.
