Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come to school excited to learn. They attend a high poverty school with very limited resources. Eight-five percent of our students are offered a free hot breakfast, lunch, and after school take-home meals. A large number of my students attend a before-school program and an after-school program, leaving them at school for close to a total of 8 to 10 hours per day.
Our school is like a second home to my students.
I am always looking for more ways to engage my students and nurture their love of learning.
My Project
Last year I submitted Components 1 & 2 and now working on Components 3 & 4. I am committed to continually growing my own skill set as an educator, just like I am committed to helping my students become lifelong learners. Becoming Board Certified requires that I demonstrate standards-based evidence of the positive effect I have on student learning in alignment with the Five Core Propositions in Literacy: Reading-Language Arts-Ages 3-12: Early and Middle Childhood.
Every student deserves to be taught by an accomplished teacher.
National Board Certification is a process that allows teachers an opportunity to prove their effectiveness in the classroom by completing four total components in the teacher’s area of expertise. The process has allowed me to improve how I monitor my students learning achievements in literacy and enables me to provide refined learning opportunities for their individual needs. I must show a deep understanding of my students, content knowledge, use of data and assessments, and teaching practice. I must also show that I am involved in learning communities. The process is rigorous but becoming a National Board Teacher is worth it!
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your consideration.
