Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach a Pre-K class of 3 and 4 years olds with varying exceptionalities, including physical impairments, learning disabilities and sensory impairments. The goal of the class is to teach these students social and self-help skills, while also teaching pre-school academic skills. We work to give our students the best head start for Kindergarten.
My students work hard to be able to communicate and interact with others.
We strive to teach our students to be independent and learn social skills.
My Project
When working with students on varying abilities, we want to make sure that our classroom is welcoming, but also not overwhelming. We do this by making sure that our classroom contained sensory friendly items and nice textures. This also means that we may need to replace items periodically because items get worn out.
Our class is in need of new mats to make naptime more comfortable.
Some students pick as small tears and make them large quickly. We would love to replace our mats which are worn and give our students beds that are comfy and new. Thank you for taking your time to look at our project!
