Since most of the class is in diapers, having steps so that can get on a changing table will be a large step towards them taking some responsibility in their daily routine. We work on learning to complete as much as the daily routine as possible, independently. This encourages students to become self-reliant and boost their confidence. The class is made of varying physical disabilities, having steps so that they can access all areas of the classroom helps them gain confidence in their abilities. By gaining confidence, students will become comfortable with their newly discovered abilities and try harder. In a class with varying disabilities, safety is our most important concern. I believe that having these steps so that they can try in a safer environment, is of utmost importance.
