My Project
I love that my students want to be creative and I always try to create engaging, inquiry-based lessons so they are motivated to explore what this world has to offer. A couple years ago I bought a house and bought tools (and used them) for the very first time. Not having any experience, I began woodworking projects around my home. The first thing I thought is, "I have to bring this to my students." I did my research and basic woodworking covers almost all SC 3rd grade math standards, from planning, buying the material, and building. But there is so much that goes into bringing this idea to the classroom, and as a beginner I have no idea where to start, materials I need, and most importantly, safety. I thought this would be a great opportunity to put this project on DonorsChoose because this project really focuses on equity in the classroom and a creative outlet. Maplewood Shop can help bring the lifelong benefits of woodworking to my school. Please help me bring this to the students in my classroom, and possibly to the entire school.
