My Students

My students are a great group of kids. They are 9th graders with Autism and other developmental disabilities or special learning needs. They need more than a teacher who tells them what to do; they need an adult who will listen to them and work with them on their individual needs.

In the words of Temple Grandin, "Kids have to be exposed to different things in order to develop.

A child’s not going to find out he likes to play a musical instrument if you never exposed him to it."

My classroom assistant and I create a positive and interactive learning environment where our kids know that they are welcome, they are loved, they are appreciated, they are safe and they can succeed.

My Project

The world of Percy Jackson has brought the magic of reading and mythology to so many kids (and adults) for years. I have used my own worn-out copies of these books for so many years that they desperately need to be replaced.

Please help us bring some mythology magic into our classroom.

These books items will bring so much joy to our students for many years to come, as well as make a wonderful display in our classroom library. This will help to serve as a hook to help kids to sit down and read on their own during downtime.
