Help me give my students the supplies needed to perform the many engaging science activities that go along with our Mystery Science learning videos. Most items are household items yet add up in expense for me to purchase.
My class this year has a total of 15 students with twelve girls and three boys. My kiddos are very excited about science and the hands-on activities we are able to do each week! This year we have had the opportunity to receive a subscription to Mystery Science where students experience engaging activities through video, Q & A sessions, and hands-on experiments. Our community is a small, rural area that is primarily reliant on tourism and agriculture. Many of my students are country kids who are not afraid to get their hands dirty. They are inquisitive and have the desire to learn new concepts in science and math.
I am an advocate for young ladies in pursuit of careers in math and science.
I feel I can ignite that interest through these science activities and methods. We would like to receive additional resources for the second graders for the science experiments we will be conducting this school year.
My Project
Many of the items needed for our activities are household items and even supplies we may have at school already, such as tissue paper and tape. I would like to have these supplies on hand for specific Mystery Science activities and some of the items are expensive and either my school or I would appreciate the help purchasing them.
Mystery Science is a wonderful, engaging program that I have used for the past three years.
It covers so many of the new standards and the students love the hands-on activities provided with each Mystery. I have used my own funds to purchase most of the items needed for the activities and would appreciate having a tote full of the items just for these exercises! I am requesting items including magnifiers, flashlights, clay, measuring cups, glue, tissue paper, and pipe cleaners.
