My students need to have a Season Cycler Demonstrator, styrofoam spheres and real meteorite to understand how Moon Phases work and why we have the Four Seasons.
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Shepherd-Jones's classroom raised $216

My Students
Does the Moon physically change shape? How can it be Summer in Florida, but Winter in Chile at the same time?
Our school is located in Ammonal on the windward side of the island of Oahu, in the state of Hawaii.
The per capita income for the town is $16,089 and nearly 50% of the population is Hawaiian or Pacific Islander.
About 75% of students are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch. The student population is about 92% Hawaiian or Pacific Islander.
My Project
Moon Phases have fascinated and dictated much of the human experience. We have all looked up to a bright, full-Moon night and been amazed. But what causes the Moon phases? The Styrofoam Balls will allow my science class to recreate the eight major Moon phases in the lab. They will be able to see what causes the Moon to appear differently when viewed from Earth.
What causes the seasons? Why does it never snow in Hawaii? The Season Cycler Demonstrator will give the students a step by step guide showing how the Earth's tilt to the Sun causes the seasons.
What better piece of the Cosmos than the Meteorite with info card. This object from outer space will be a great talking point when we get into meteors and asteroids. How many people get to hold an object from space?
There are many mysteries from the Cosmos.
Earth's four seasons and moon phases can be a topic my young scientists will masters. Both activities are hands on and will make learning fun.
