My Students
My students are WONDERful to me!!! We live in a small rural community, which has a poverty rate of about 95%. Many of my students are struggling readers but very anxious readers. They get very excited about reading books that are interesting to them. Even if they can not read it all on their own, they try extremely hard. Many times, I find myself reading a section of a book with some of my students on the way to the buses in the afternoon. This shows me that they want to read and they are trying hard to do so. I believe in my students and one day, we will be where we need to be and that's A1 readers!!
My Project
With your generous donations, my students will be able to read the book Wonder. Being that my students live in a small, rural poverty stricken area, they do not go many places. They do not realize that there are many people who are not like them but very much like them. By having a class set of this book, my students and I will be able to read and discuss what's going on with the characters in this story. I will also be able to teach my students about character and how important each and every one of their characters are.
My students struggle with character because many of them do not have positive role models in their life.
This book can help them change into positive people who can look inside themselves and know how wonderful they really are.
